Community Active in the School
Irvine Nature Center selected Sinclair Lane Elementary School on January 9, 2017 for the Nature Center's Growing Green Leaders program. This program establishes deep relationships with students and teachers to expand environmental awareness. Teachers of Sinclair Lane and educators from Irvine work together to create experiential curriculum that broadens environmental literacy. Students are introduced to concepts through hands-on experiments, stewardship projects and outdoor study which allows them to make existing curriculum connections to the real world. Additionally, Irvine is a resource, guiding the pursuit of the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education Green School Certification. Irvine assisted Sinclair Lane with the students environmental club and provided customized professional development for teachers.
