The Green Club Makes Their Own Recycling Containers for the Classroom
On October 24, 2017, 11 Green Club members worked together to make cardboard recycling boxes for each of the classrooms in the school. A total of 14 recycling boxes were created and are now used to collect paper for the recycling dumpster .
Students run a reusable water bottle campaign
Irvine Nature Center and the Green Club applied and was awarded the Green Healthy Smart Challenge! grant from the Baltimore City Office of Sustainability in the 2017-18 school year. Each Sinclair Elementary student will receive a reusable water bottle to reduce the use of disposable water cups provided at the water fountain. On a weekly basis students use an estimated 3,000 paper cups. We are looking to use the water bottles to drastically reduce our reliance on disposable paper cups. The fourth grade class will go on a field trip to Herring Run with Blue Water Baltimore facilitating. The entire school will be filled with brand new recycling bins and green cleaning products!
